Tips for packing a pallet
To reduce the risk of damage during storage or transport, you must ensure that your pallet is correctly wrapped. Here are some tips:
You can wrap a pallet by hand; however, consider the manual process for small operations only. A pallet wrapping machine can help you automate the wrapping process for larger operations.
Instructions:
- Make sure the pallet has no broken boards and should be neither too large nor too small for the load you need to wrap.
- Stack the goods as close together as possible and pay attention to the weight distribution.
- Put the heavier products on the bottom and the lighter ones on the top.
- Pass the wrap around the corner of the pallet and tie it so that it is fully secured.
- Starting at the base of the load, wrap it at least 3 or 4 times, so that the corners are tightly wrapped.
- The layers should overlap as you work your way up. To stabilise the load, start wrapping downwards once you have reached the top.
- Once you have done this, tuck the end of the wrap under the pallet and check the stability of the load by slightly pushing on the top elements.
- You can be sure that the load will not shift during transport if none of the elements are loose or moving.
